I have been waiting for this moment all winter: for the pink peonies along the back of my house to bloom. And it is finally here! I picked these yesterday and the aroma of them is permeating my living room. I am in love. I absolutely LOVE peonies! They are my favorite flower, and not only that, but they are the state flower of Indiana, the state I was born in and lived in until I was 14. I was thrilled when my husband and I first looked at this house and noticed there were peonies in several places around the yard. I have always wanted to have them in my landscaping. There are a few varieties around the yard, but these pink ones are the first to come in and by far the most fragrant. Unfortunately they do not last long, so I am trying to soak up the sight and smell of them as much as I can.
We are blessed to have many wonderful flowers and plants in our yard. The person who planted all of these wonderful perennials did a fabulous job of planting a variety of flowers that bloom at different times of the year. These above are some of the first to pop up in early spring. The one downside to all of this beautiful landscaping is that we do not always have the time or energy to keep up with the weeding and the pruning. Now that the boys are older and do not need us as much when they play out side (and are old enough to help!), it has gotten a little easier to keep up with it.
