New Video & Thoughts on Blessings

It's been awhile since I last posted a video, or wrote on this blog for that matter. I have been busy lately with my family and home, getting back into a school year routine, finishing some commissioned paintings, and working on building up a body of work to potentially sell. My goal is to open an online shop by the end of the year. This prospect scares me and excites me all at once. My art has been well received by friends and family (who are pretty much biased) and I have done about 10 commissioned paintings and have been asked to do more. I have also had a wonderful response to my work and videos on YouTube. However, this does not necessarily mean my work will be well received out in the world to the general public. I want to be realistic and not naive, but at the same time, I will not know unless I try. This is all part of taking those brave steps, about doing what you love and have been given a gift for, and then sharing it with the world.

I feel incredibly blessed in my life. That is the spirit of this painting. I am blessed to have a roof over my head, clean water to drink, food on my table, a loving family, a wonderful husband, wonderful children, an awesome church family, incredible friends, and most of all my faith in Jesus and His love and provision for me...even in the trials I have had to face. One of the reasons I paint birds is because they remind of a Scripture verse that says, "Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" Jesus was speaking about not being worried and anxious. He takes care of the little birds, and yet I am so much more valuable to Him than they are. So when I see birds in a bush or on a tree branch or flying around, I think about this verse and I am comforted. Life is hard and filled with pain and trial and hardship, but I know I have a Hope that is with me through all of that. This is blessing to me. May we count our blessings and be filled with gratitude always.

Much love,
